EVERY FRIDAY…4 to 4:45 p.m.  West sidewalk of the broad intersection of Erie Blvd East & East Genesee St. in De Witt (across from the Fire Dept.)  For years our focus has been on solidarity with the people of Palestine  Park in mini-mall.

STREET HEAT

We call it “street heat.” It’s one of our ways to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a years – decades – long local grassroots tradition  here and in Ithaca and elsewhere. We stand out and up for what we stand for.

Around Syracuse a handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the passing traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about crucial issues, often underrepresented in the mainstream media.

We’re out there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel). You can bring your own sign – or use one of ours. Ours features pithiness and legibility. We don’t have meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!)

This group is open to any Syracuse DSA member.

The purpose of this meeting: 

• to talk about mental health and wellness in a group session with a topic to encourage discussion but where people can just talk about what is on their mind at the moment. 

• to socialize and chat about what’s happening out in the world while sharing food and the precious company of comrades and friends

• A place to get help on self improvement and coping but in a judgment free environment of likeminded people who acknowledge the pernicious role that capitalism, imperialism, racism and the state have on our lives.
